Biography

Rashif is a Semantic Web and graph databases specialist with close to seven years’ experience in implementing knowledge-graph applications, through both the LPG and RDF paradigms. He did an MSc thesis project on the application of semantic technologies to regulatory compliance management, which was supported by Fimantic, a financial services digitization project based in Amsterdam. Rashif is also a founding member of ZELOS.ai, a Seattle-based athletics analytics and media startup, and occasionally consults online for other applications in exciting domains. Currently, he is part of the knowledge engineering team at BlackSwan Technologies, an enterprise software scaleup.

Regulatory complexity is causing a heavy burden on financial institutions, especially when markets expect more rapid innovation to serve its needs. Meanwhile, regulators keep placing more and more expectations to protect the financial, economic and social systems. Despite AI’s great strides in text processing, the compliance burden stands to benefit the most from simpler, structured ways of encoding and sharing knowledge that fills the gap of modern risk-based, implementation-specific approaches.
